Here lies a special emphasis on the phrenic, which is responsible for about 75 per cent of the body's breathing. Accordingly Pilates considers the middle of the body as the inner centre or the powerhouse of the body. Therefore a concerted training of the phrenic, the muscles of the pelvic floor, the back and the deeper abdominals does not only disburden the back, but will soon be perceived through a completely healthier posture.
